At the beginning of July 2007 the town of Coffeyville was flooded by heavy rains and a local River. Flood waters caused a local Oil refinery to spill 42,000 gallons of oil into the flood water. Many homes and neighborhoods are beyond repair and the land has lost its value. There is only a small margin of volunteer resources due to lack of media coverage. However there is hope for the homeowners. The Oil company has decided to settle with the homeowners whose homes were damaged. The oil fumes pack a powerful headache. For the most part it is a ghost town.
